About www.ColoGunMarket.com

» Why does this site exist?
www.ColoGunMarket.com was launched in 2003 by Rocky Mountain Gun Owners to restore Coloradoans’ ability to exercise their right to gun ownership and transfer. There have been many insults and barriers erected in regards to this right. The most obvious is the decision by Colorado’s major newspapers to cease accepting classified ads for firearms. They won’t let you place firearm ads there in exchange for your hard-earned money - so RMGO is giving our members the ability to place unlimited firearm ads online.

Top

» What is Rocky Mountain Gun Owners?
Based in Denver, Colorado, Rocky Mountain Gun Owners is Colorado’s largest state-based gun lobby. It is a group solely dedicated to the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. The strategy is simple: don’t give an inch. Visit www.rmgo.org for more information about us and current gun issues.

Top

» Who can view the ads on this site?
Anyone and everyone, anytime. There is no registration or logging in required to view any of the ads on this site. Simply choose the category you’re interested in and browse, or you can click on ’search’ to look for something more specific.

Top

» Who can post ads to this site?
RMGO members can. It’s real easy to join, just visit www.rmgo.org/donate.html. All of the (relatively cheap) dues go to protect/restore your gun rights. There is more information on posting an ad in the ’placing an ad’ section below.

Top

» How is the firearm sale conducted?
That is up to the seller and buyer. www.ColoGunMarket.com and Rocky Mountain Gun Owners are serving much the same purpose as a classified ad - we just hook up both parties at a central meeting place (our website), and let you conduct the transaction. We guarantee no part of the transaction, so use common sense.

Top

» Does my NRA membership allow me to register and post?
Don’t get us started on the NRA - they have sold out our rights so many times that they can’t really be considered a pro-gun organization anymore. The short answer is no. For more information, go to www.nrawol.org

Top

» Does my GOA membership allow me to register and post?
Though we work closely with Gun Owners of America, and we suggest that it is THE nationwide gun rights organization, RMGO is a separate legal entity and has its own fundraising base. Though we like to think of ourselves as the arm of GOA in Colorado, we do need a stable RMGO membership.

Privacy

» What kind of information am I required to give?
To register (only required for selling), you must choose a username, provide your e-mail address, mailing address, and phone number. The mailing address is used only to verify that you are an RMGO member (so this must match the address you used to join and donate.)

Top

» Why does RMGO need my address?
RMGO seeks to activate more gun owners to defend their rights. If we don’t know where to send you information about the latest gun grab, we can’t keep you active. Again, our list is confidential and will always remain so. Also see the above question.

Top

» Is this information shared with anyone?
Rocky Mountain Gun Owners is a 501-c-4, and is not required to report donors or members to anyone. We understand that privacy is extremely important to gun owners, and guard your privacy jealously. RMGO does not rent its list to anyone.

Top

» As a seller, what kind of information will show up on the ad?
Registration information (mailing address, phone number) is for RMGO’s purposes and is not visible to others. Information you post in the ad is visible, as is your ’Location’ if specified in your profile

Placing an Ad

» Step 1 - Becoming an RMGO member/supporter.
If you are not already an RMGO member, please visit www.rmgo.org and select “Join RMGO“ on the left. Donating $20 gives you a year-long membership with unlimited ads. If you have any questions, there is more information, including contact information, at www.rmgo.org.

Top

» Step 2 - Registering.
Click ’Register’ on the right side at the top of www.ColoGunMarket.com. There you must agree to the terms of this site and fill in the form on the following page. You must pick a username, provide an email address, a valid CO mailing address (see “What kind of information am I required to give?“ above if you have a question about this), and password. Once you register, your membership will be verified. Once your membership is verified, you will receive an email stating that your account has been activated.

Top

» Step 3 - Placing Your Ad.
Go to www.ColoGunMarket.com and login with your username and password from step 2. Click on the category you want to place an ad in and hit the ’new ad’ button. Give your ad a meaningful subject (like “Kimber Ultra CDP, .45, extras, like new, $800 obo“). Place details about the item AND YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION in the body of the ad. You may also add a picture by clicking the ’add an attachment’ button, but this is not required. Remember to give your phone number and/or email address so a buyer can reach you. You’re done - but might find steps 4 and 5 useful.

Top

» Step 4 - Editing Your Ad
Go to www.ColoGunMarket.com and login with your username and password. Go to your ad and click the ’edit’ button on the top-right. Editing is just like posting an ad.

Top

» Step 5 - Removing Your Ad
Ads placed on www.ColoGunMarket.com will be available for 6 months, and removed after that. If you sell your gun or accessory, and don’t want to continue receiving calls about it, log back in, go to your ad, and add ’SOLD’ to the beginning of the subject and delete your contact information from the body of the ad. Adding ’SOLD’ to the subject line will let others know your item has sold, removing your contact information will help keep you from being bugged.

Top

» Step 6 - Relisting Your Ad
As mentioned in step 5, ads are removed after 6 months. So, if your gun or accessory isn’t sold within 6 months, you’ll have to place your ad again (step 3).

Other Questions.

» I’ve lost my password!
Don’t panic! While your password cannot be retrieved it can be reset. To do this go to the login page and click I’ve forgotten my password. Follow the instructions and you should be back online in no time.

Top

» I registered but cannot log in!
First check that you are entering the correct username and password. If they are okay then maybe your account needs activating. We require that your RMGO membership is verified when you first sign up, so it could be that we haven’t done that yet. If it’s been a couple days and there has been no activation, you suspect some other problem, please email admin@cologunmarket.com.

Top

» I registered in the past but cannot log in anymore!
The most likely reasons for this are: you entered an incorrect username or password (check the email you were sent when you first registered) or the administrator has deleted your account for some reason. Email admin@cologunmarket.com if you suspect this.

Top

» The times are not correct!
If you are registered, you may need to change your settings in your ’profile.’ Otherwise, times should show up as good old Mountain Standard Time.

Formatting and Topic Types

» What is BBCode?
BBCode is a special implementation of HTML. Whether you can use BBCode is determined by the administrator. You can also disable it on a per post basis from the posting form. BBCode itself is similar in style to HTML: tags are enclosed in square braces [ and ] rather than < and > and it offers greater control over what and how something is displayed. For more information on BBCode see the guide which can be accessed from the posting page.

Top

» Can I use HTML?
That depends on whether the administrator allows you to, they have complete control over it. If you are allowed to use it, you will probably find only certain tags work. This is a safety feature to prevent people from abusing the board by using tags which may destroy the layout or cause other problems. If HTML is enabled you can disable it on a per post basis from the posting form.

Top

» What are Smileys?
Smileys, or Emoticons, are small graphical images which can be used to express some feeling using a short code, e.g. :) means happy, :( means sad. The full list of emoticons can be seen via the posting form. Try not to overuse smileys, though, as they can quickly render a post unreadable and a moderator may decide to edit them out or remove the post altogether.

Top

» Can I post Images?
Images can indeed be shown in your ads. You can link to an image stored on a publicly accessible web server, e.g. http://www.some-unknown-place.net/my-picture.gif using either the BBCode [img] tag or appropriate HTML (if allowed). However, that can be difficult, so we suggest you simply use the ’add an attachment’ button when placing or editing your ad.

Top

» What are Announcements?
Announcements often contain important information and you should read them as soon as possible. Announcements appear at the top of every page in the forum to which they are posted. Whether or not you can post an announcement depends on the permissions required, which are set by the administrator.

Top

» What are Sticky topics?
Sticky topics appear below any announcements in viewforum and only on the first page. They are often quite important so you should read them where possible. As with announcements the board administrator determines what permissions are required to post sticky topics in each forum.

» Who do I contact about abusive and/or legal matters related to this board?
Any of the administrators listed on the “The team” page should be an appropriate point of contact for your complaints. If this still gets no response then you should contact the owner of the domain (do a whois lookup) or, if this is running on a free service (e.g. Yahoo!, free.fr, f2s.com, etc.), the management or abuse department of that service. Please note that the phpBB Group has absolutely no jurisdiction and cannot in any way be held liable over how, where or by whom this board is used. Do not contact the phpBB Group in relation to any legal (cease and desist, liable, defamatory comment, etc.) matter not directly related to the phpBB.com website or the discrete software of phpBB itself. If you do e-mail phpBB Group about any third party use of this software then you should expect a terse response or no response at all.
